Alaska Wilderness Trip Preview: Kenai Fjords and Denali National Parks

Discover the sense of true unspoiled wilderness in Alaska's Kenai Fjords and Denali National Parks! Marvel at an array of glaciers and marine wildlife like whales, sea lions, puffins and more; then travel into the heart of the Alaska Range to see boreal forest and sub-artic tundra wildlife including moose, caribou, Dall sheep, wolf and grizzly bear. DNS will host an evening of amazing pictures and videos of these Alaskan wild lands and discuss an itinerary for the 10 day trip planned for early September 2013! Guests attending this evening event will be entitled to $100 off the cost of the trip if they decide to travel to Alaska with DNS. Refreshments will be provided.
Kirtland's Warbler and Michigan's Lower Peninsula

Journey to upper Lower Peninsula of Michigan to search for the rare Kirtland's Warbler. Found only in the jack pines region, this neotropical migrant has one of the most specific niches of any U.S. bird. Additionally, we will explore a variety of north woods habitats showcasing towering pines, stately hardwoods, and grand Great Lakes scenery. Spend a morning on a pristine marsh listening for the haunting calls of Loons and Grebes. Look for northern hardwood forest species such as Blackburnian Warbler, Evening Grosbeak, Purple Finch, and other species in their breeding habitat. We will visit a variety of sites along Lake Huron and search for the reintroduced Trumpeter Swan, the world's largest waterfowl. Participants will meet and depart from the Detroit Wayne County Airport.

Guyana is an emerging gem in the nature tourism market. Still little known, Guyana's lush interior, criss-crossed by a myriad of rivers and cascading waterfalls, enveloped by virgin rainforest, and teeming with tropical wildlife, rivals the best eco-tourism destinations anywhere in the world. Visit the Botanic Gardens in the capital, Georgetown for an introduction to the vast number of bird species in this tropical South American country. Stay at the Iwokrama River Lodge deep in the heart of the rainforest, and venture on the river by boat to various birding hot spots in the wilderness. Experience Mori Scrub forests, the Rupununi Savannah, and Kaieteur, the world's highest free-falling waterfall, which is five-times the height of Niagra.
